Figsbury Ring, Wiltshire, 1985.

Figsbury Ring, Wiltshire, 1985. This nearly circular Iron Age fort is about 1100 feet across, and has an earthen rampart about 12 feet high. The concentric inner ditch is an unusual feature. The local terrain is chalk grassland which supports thousands of rare orchids and other indigenous plants, due to a long period of preservation without ploughing or cultivation. The view looks toward the west.
