Chichen Itza, North Section, 1982. The overview across the main plaza shows (clockwise from left) the Venus Platform, the Temple of the Warriors with its forest of nearly 200 columns, the Castillo pyramid, and the Great Ball Court, which at 485 feet is the largest in the Mayan world. A bas-relief panel on a wall of the Ball Court depicts what is thought to be a winning team captain with a knife in one hand and the head of the losing team captain in the other.
